More Thoughts on Dragonboating
It was brought to my attention that
1) The dragonboat we were on did not have a dragonhead.
2) There was no drum beater. We kept in time to shouts of "Row, Row!!".
3) We didn't bring any rice dumplings to throw into the water.
Speaking of rice dumplings, we were involved in a covert operation earlier this week where we were supposed to throw away around 20 boxes of nearly expired combat rations. Now since throwing away combat rations is a supposedly chargeable offense, we had to come up with a creative way of disposing of them. Since the trashbags in the SAF are transparent, we couldn't just throw them away without camouflaging them in some way or another. So the rather amusing solution that we came up with was to place a trashbag filled with combat rations in another trashbag lined with newspapers. So there we had it, many many bags of very heavy newspapers. But still, it'd look very suspicious for the entire company to be throwing away so many bags of newspapers in any case, so we got the rubbish truck into our company line to pick them up. So operation well done! But what does this have to do with rice dumplings you say? Well, one of the rations (I believe menu 2, correct me if I'm wrong somebody) has chicken dumpling (ok so it's not technically rice dumplings but it's a good approximation)! So we were considering saving all the packets of chicken dumpling and throwing them into the sea, in the spirit of dragonboating. 屈原 would have been proud.
